At Craveworthy Brands, we believe that our team members are the heart and soul of everything we do.

We are excited to introduce our ‘Team Member Spotlight' series where we shine a light on the incredible individuals who make up our diverse and talented team across Craveworthy Brands and our concepts. We want to have our loyal guests meet the faces behind their favorite brands and share their incredible stories!

Meet Kirsten Simmons the General Manager of Craveworthy Brand's stir-fry bowl concept BD's Mongolian Grill in Bolingbrook, Illinois. Learn more about Kirsten's journey, achievements and favorites!

How long have you been with Craveworthy Brands?

It's been 10 years!

What does a typical day look like for you in your role?

This is tough because each day is so different! Typically though, you can find me either helping out in the dish pit or on the grill “stirring it up!”

What's the most rewarding part of your job?

One of the most rewarding parts of my job's developing our team and seeing where it takes them. I love seeing them grow and develop skills through their work to help them later in their careers; whether it’s with Craveworthy Brands or if we’re a stepping stone to something else on their path.

What's a project or achievement you're particularly proud of?

I helped kick-start a relationship between Craveworthy Brands/BD's Mongolian Grill and Organization for Autism Research (OAR.) It's a truly inspiring story - learn more about it below!

What's one piece of advice you'd give to someone just starting in your field?

I like to pass along the same advice I was once given: "There will be some hard days but always remember it’s just stir-fry. Have fun with it!"

How do you stay motivated and inspired at work?

I stay motivated and inspired at work by looking into the future and what’s ahead, and keeping up with our company’s growth.

Speed Round

  • Coffee or tea? Coffee! I’m a Dunkin’ girl!
  • Early bird or night owl? Night owl, for sure!
  • Favorite vacation destination? As a family, we’ve only gone to Disney so far but growing up, we’d road trip and make multiple stops. I love the idea of that!
  • Favorite movie or TV show? My favorite movie's 10 Things I Hate About You and my favorite show's Gossip Girl.
  • Favorite food? Any type of pasta.
  • One item you can't live without? Chapstick, if you know, you know!
  • Favorite hobby or pastime outside of work: Do naps count? I also like collecting miniature things, even though they end up in my kids’ doll house and toy boxes nowadays.
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? I'd love to travel to Italy one day for the views and the food!
