Gregg Majewski, CEO of Craveworthy Brands, shares strategies for local growth and customer loyalty in the restaurant industry. In this discussion with Justin Ulrich of Evocalize on The Local Marketing Lab podcast, Gregg touches on topics such as sampling products as a way to win more customers and the power of smartphone storytelling when growing your brand.
Key Takeaways
- Give out free samples and win yourself more customers
- Define and execute your value prop
- Lean into smartphone storytelling
Give out samples, win more customers
Sampling your food to potential customers, even though it may involve a cost, can have a significant impact on growing your business. By giving away samples and engaging with local businesses and communities through initiatives like office deliveries and local events, you can attract more customers and build a loyal base.
Implementing local marketing strategies, such as target grids for sampling and regular interactions with businesses in the area, can help establish your restaurant as a go-to choice for consumers.
“You give away an office catering and you feed 7 or 8 people in an office”, states Majewski, “you should be able to see a 7 or 8-time return because they’re going to order at least once from you”.
Define (and execute) your value prop
Customers have never had more choices of where to eat than they do today. This has made it not only difficult to answer the question of “what should we have for dinner tonight”, but it has also made it more challenging for businesses to stand apart.
Taking the time to determine you value proposition is such an important piece of the puzzle to ensure your customers know what to expect and can see value beyond just dollars and cents.
Majewski explains, “It’s really important today to find what your value prop is for your customer base. That doesn’t mean you have to be cheap, it means what’s that value that you’re going to provide that customer day in, day out when you’re lucky enough for them to choose you.”
Using Smartphone Storytelling as an Investment in Your Brand
One of the most powerful tools for telling your brand story is in your pocket every day. Using your smartphone as a tool to capture real, authentic stories about your brand is what consumers today want to see.
“It’s less about companies having to make a highly produced commercial” explains host Justin Ulrich, “everyone now has the ability to create their own media company.”
